Position Overview: The Local Palate is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Newsletter Content Manager to oversee the strategy, creation, distribution of content, and partner relationships across our suite of newsletters. The ideal candidate will be passionate about storytelling, with a deep understanding of the culinary industry, audience engagement, and brand marketing. You will be responsible for curating compelling content that aligns with The Local Palate’s brand messaging, resonates with our diverse audience, and drives both engagement and business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Content Strategy & Development
- Develop and manage the newsletter content calendar for 10 newsletters, ensuring a cohesive voice and strategic alignment with The Local Palate’s brand and audience and partnered placements.
- Curate and edit content for each newsletter based on previously published digital content, including recipe roundups, feature stories, event highlights, product promotions, and industry trends. The role may require occasionally writing headlines and copy.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Digital, Editorial, Marketing, Design, Sales, and Events) to gather content, brainstorm ideas, and ensure consistency across all communication channels.
- Tailor content to specific audience segments, ensuring each newsletter delivers personalized, relevant, and engaging material.
- Manage freelance contributors, maintaining a balance of provided content that also continues to drive traffic to the website.
- Manage a robust program of paid and partnered newsletters, including collecting assets and copy from partners and editing to TLP standards, ensuring our readers enjoy and engage with paid content.
- Editing & Distributing
- Edit and proofread all newsletter content for clarity, tone, grammar, and style, ensuring alignment with The Local Palate's editorial standards and AP style.
- Coordinate with the Design team to ensure the content is presented in an engaging and visually appealing format, optimizing readability across all devices.
- Build, schedule and distribute newsletters on time, ensuring they reach the appropriate audience segments based on preferences and behaviors.
- Manage email marketing platforms (Mailchimp, Retention.com) to set up campaigns, manage subscriber lists, and ensure deliverability.
- Performance Analysis & Optimization
- Monitor and maintain presentations on key performance indicators (KPIs) for all newsletters, including open rates, click-through rates, conversion rates, and subscriber growth.
- Use data insights to continuously refine content, subject lines, and calls to action to improve engagement and performance over time.
- Conduct A/B tests and research methods to determine the most effective content strategies and distribution techniques, providing regular reports and recommendations for optimization.
- Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and innovations in email marketing and digital content, bringing fresh ideas to keep The Local Palate’s newsletters relevant and exciting.
- Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in content creation, editing, and email marketing, preferably in the food, beverage, or lifestyle industry.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, etc.) and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, A/B testing software).
- Familiarity with audience segmentation and personalization strategies.
- Creative thinking with the ability to transform complex ideas into compelling content that resonates with diverse audiences.
- Strong project management and organization skills with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and email deliverability strategies is a plus.
- A genuine passion for food, drink, and Southern culture is highly desirable.
