This individual works with the Marketing Manager, Safety and Production to build and implement the technical content marketing strategy for the North America Safety and Production product and services category. The Technical Content Strategist delivers professional, accurate, high value content that positions the Fisher Scientific channel as a trusted, market leader and enables customers to self-serve and transact more volume on fishersci.com. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, and with a matrix relationship to the Manager, Content Strategy, this individual collaborates effectively with Portfolio Management and Safety Services teams to elevate product and services content, increase visibility of our value proposition and support a best in class website experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Strategic Marketing, Portfolio Management, Safety Services, and other Safety/Production business stakeholders to establish content priorities. Review and report on status and success metrics quarterly.
  • Build a technical content strategy that defines objectives and standards relative to voice, content, media type, lifespan, curated or original, location and links on site as well as measures of success and customer engagement metrics.
  • Stay current on Safety and Production industry trends and changes. Interview key opinion leaders/customers/ suppliers about relevant stories. Write content and articles in support of high priority product categories, safety hazards and production best practices.
  • In collaboration with the Studio and Digital Marketing, develop and maintain a digital knowledge hub or equivalent that assists customers in finding key technical resources and support.
  • Develop content with a focus on optimizing SEO value. Consider ways to leverage content across digital channels including social media, email and potentially earned media collaborations (bloggers, professional associations, etc.)
  • Work with our supplier partners to procure high value content to enhance the site experience for customers, i.e. videos, industry related news or resources. Prescribe the type, duration and focus of the content to ensure it addresses customer needs.
  • Stay current on content marketing best practices. Continuously investigate new media options such as video, simulators/configurators and immersive technology to enhance the quality and depth of the educational and technical content. Advise when it makes sense to pilot/invest in new media/technology options.
  • Support the Marketing Manager as needed on additional Safety and Production marketing projects
  • Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related area and 5+ years Marketing experience specifically focused on safety product and services business-to-business content writing.
  • Thorough understanding of safety, safety compliance, technical safety product information and feature-benefit principles with the ability to translate them into concise, customer-friendly language.
  • Technical content marketing experience with proven record of driving conversion on a commerce site
  • Strong digital marketing acumen with understanding of SEO, social media, earned media, digital marketing and site analytics and metrics
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of Safety and Production industry associations, regulatory agencies and opinion leaders
  • Understanding of channel relationships/distribution business model is helpful
  • Ability to function in a complex, matrix business environment is essential
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
