Lead UX Content Designers will balance providing expertise in the craft of UX content designing and leading key initiatives within the Content Design team. Within the content design work, you’ll craft clear, consistent, succinct language for Thomson Reuters’ product and digital experiences while working on a highly collaborative team that includes UX designers, researchers, product teams, leadership, accessibility specialists, development, and more. Key initiatives you may lead could consist of (but are not limited to) helping standardize practices & processes, helping onboard new team members, and/or mentoring.

As a Lead UX Content Designer, you will: 

  • Drive end-to-end UXC solutions within our product or digital space
  • Help define users‚Äô needs/problems and influence the overall solution with the UXCD approach
  • Be able to work in a sometimes ambiguous space and use data and foundational UX knowledge to influence decisions and problem solve
  • Think critically‚ÄĒnot just about the right words for an¬†experience,¬†but¬†about the right experience for words¬†
  • Demonstrate the critical influence of words and visual language across design, research, product, and development teams¬†¬†
  • Help educate the organization about the importance of UX¬†content-/design-/research-thinking¬†habits and the impact of cross-team engagement on user experience outcome¬†
  • Be responsible for building foundational processes, standards, metrics¬†definition, and engagement¬†protocols¬†that¬†facilitate¬†top-value¬†partnerships across UX, product,¬†and development teams
  • Extend UX content writing skills into UX content organization¬†through design¬†system, mapping,¬†taxonomy¬†thinking¬†and outputs¬†

Participate in content strategy efforts, such as:  

  • Auditing product lines or digital experiences for areas¬†of¬†UX¬†content¬†opportunity¬†¬†
  • Defining¬†and evolving¬†voice and¬†tone¬†elements¬†for¬†both¬†disparate and experientially connected¬†products¬†¬†
  • Helping¬†team¬†members¬†and¬†partners¬†align to¬†processes¬†around¬†road¬†mapping,¬†asset storage, design system¬†and work management tools¬†
  • Identifying¬†gaps,¬†and their¬†solutions,¬†within¬†and across team¬†processes¬†¬†
  • Leading¬†empathy/content/feature¬†mapping and other discovery/sprint planning exercises in partnership with UX design and research¬†
  • Mentor/coach Junior and Mid UXCD resources
  • Support work steams on a consulting basis
  • Be customer obsessed ‚ÄstAdvocate for customers during product prioritization¬†
  • Have a growth mindset¬†by thriving on challenges and viewing failures as a springboard for growth

About you

You’re a fit for the role of Lead UX Content Designer if you have:

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of progressive professional experience¬†including¬†6-8¬†combined¬†years¬†of¬†UX writing/content¬†design,¬†including¬†some¬†for¬†a¬†complex¬†software¬†product¬†offering¬†(cloud,¬†app, or web)¬†¬†
  • Experience coaching and overseeing team members‚Äô work outputs and weighing in as the final say in collaborative content reviews and critique sessions
  • Radical user-focus¬†and¬†influencer¬†within¬†and across complex groups,¬†if not large organizations¬†
  • Experience evangelizing UX content¬†writing/design¬†within¬†a large¬†organization¬†to¬†build¬†peer and¬†leadership¬†understanding¬†of¬†and¬†emphasis¬†on¬†the importance¬†¬†
  • Able¬†to take initial direction, execute, and provide usable and consumable deliverables for research, organization, strategic efforts, etc. without oversight¬†
  • Expert use of work management and workflow platforms, design/writing collaboration tools (high- and/or low-fidelity), Microsoft Office applications, and document/chat/video collaboration tools¬†
  • Expert understanding of current UX best practices and an agile¬†approach to creative¬†outputs¬†and¬†partnership¬†with¬†design,¬†research,¬†product,¬†and¬†development¬†partners¬†
  • Understanding and¬†oversight of UX content KPIs/success¬†metrics;¬†exposure¬†to means/methods of measuring UX content success¬†¬†
  • Present influential information to¬†upper-level leadership in project stand-ups
  • Understand¬†the importance of primary and secondary research¬†as well as both qualitative and quantitative inputs¬†on approach to language, tone, and content; ability to¬†define the need, prepare for,¬†and partner with UX research¬†on¬†content-related¬†insights¬†
  • Advanced¬†familiarity¬†with¬†aligning¬†to/updating/maintaining¬†content¬†design systems¬†
