Your role in helping us shape the future:

U.S. News empowers everyone to thrive. We are looking for a content strategist to contribute to messaging for key PR and outreach campaigns that build high-quality referral traffic. This is a cross-functional role reporting to the product team and in partnership with editorial, PR and web production teams. If you are entrepreneurial and passionate about journalism, communications, PR and digital publishing, this may be the perfect opportunity for you.

You will join a startup within an established company to plan, launch and optimize targeted outreach campaigns. You will raise awareness of our products, engage with potential partners and increase traffic to our website.

Are you up to the challenge?

Here is what you’ll be working on as a Content Strategist on our team:

  • Articulate specific content, on a category-by-category basis for over 20 business and consumer categories, that you believe will attract interest (as measured by promotions, citations and backlinks) from high-quality media outlets and other authoritative organizations in different industries
  • Work with internal teams to develop a process to scale link building promotion and online media outreach
  • Pitch shareable and linkable content to the product team for internal review
  • Collaborate with editorial, PR and web production to deliver content for different channels and audiences
  • Launch targeted campaigns with the product team to grow organic and referral traffic
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness and ROI of all content marketing activities


You should definitely have:

  • Excellent storytelling, communications and organizational skills
  • Good understanding of on-page and off-page SEO
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to handle multiple complex projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work with data and use past results to drive future strategy

It would be nice if you had:

  • Experience in UX writing and brand messaging
  • Experience building email campaigns
  • Experience with content marketing and link building
  • Experience working in the digital publishing space
  • Basic understanding of Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics and Excel
  • Familiarity with AP style and journalistic writing
