We are looking for a Content Strategist to help tell the stories of our amazing customers and explain our technology to a broad audience in approachable and imaginative ways. The individual filling this role will work closely with the Commercial Experience, Design, and Government Programs teams to ensure our marketing and communications assets are engaging, beautiful, and accurate.

This role will have responsibility for Umbra’s internal and external marketing communications engagements. This includes content creation, case studies, events, and marketing awareness campaigns. The ideal candidate can both create a compelling story and execute a plan to get that asset maximum exposure through traditional media, social media, and relevant partnerships. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute our content marketing strategy with the goal of educating potential customers, government organizations, and employees about the value of SAR
  • Help identify the most effective communication channels to reach relevant target groups and help to feed these channels with the appropriate messaging
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant media sites, press, and communities to ensure a distribution network for Umbra materials
  • Assist with event management - from pre-event marketing to managing event presence, to assisting in post-event follow-up and assessment
  • Develop a content calendar to manage proactive social media posts (Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram) that align with business goals and brand  
  • Track and regularly evaluate overall performance / ROI for all active marketing programs 

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, communication, advertising, journalism or equivalent relevant experience
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to create and drive strong, business-aligned messaging and content narratives
  • Social media and interactive content savvy. Able to harness new content approaches effectively using a variety of media options
  • Ability to distill complex technical topics into accessible content while preserving accuracy
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment
  • Willingness to travel, as needed, to support events (approx 10% of the time)

Desired Qualifications

  • Federal/government marketing experience
  • Experience in the development of event and tradeshow strategy, planning and logistics
  • Digital ads experience

Pay Transparency:

This job posting may span more than one career level. To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base ranges for all job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by skills, responsibilities and relevant work experience.
