The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Dentistry is seeking a Web Content Specialist for a 6-month contract in the Office of Communications.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Assist in the design, development, documentation, and implementation of Internet-based applications to meet the needs of the University to communicate internally and externally.
Apply new media technologies and best practices for web, email, mobile, and social media platforms.
Assist in the implementation of web content strategies to improve internal and external communications.
Generate interest and convey messages through persuasive multi-media content, including news articles for social media, print, or digital publication.
Present content clearly in accordance with editorial policy and web graphic treatments.
Apply the design of the website with a particular focus on the ways in which the goals for the site meet the needs of users through the provision of appropriate content.
Create and source content for websites, including articles, links, or FAQs.
Prepare text content for distribution through the web, print, or other media.
Edit copy and clear copyright for use of any existing content.
Promote websites and new media technologies through search engine optimization.
Respond to user inquiries, comments, and suggestions.
Edit content contributions and modify the design to follow.
Update and maintain sensitive material.
Maintain menus, indexes, and directories within sites.
Ensure archive and backup content.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in public relations, computer science, communications, marketing, journalism, business administration or closely related field.
Experience: Two (2) years of experience in communications, journalism, technical writing, marketing, or web development

Other: Familiarity with AP Style
