A Sr. UX Writer creates the content that guides users through our digital product experiences. The individual mentors and provides guidance to other writers and team members. As a subject matter expert, the individual collaboratively influences others to have a broad impact on the student experience. A Sr. UX Writer collaborates with product managers and engineers to design seamless experiences for our students. A Sr. UX Writer breaks down technical language to understand what options and limitations must be considered and to make recommendations that push the envelope and provide the best possible experience for our users.

What You'll Do

  1. As a subject matter expert, collaborate with colleagues in Academics, Information Technology, Operations and Marketing to understand user problems and develop content to solve complex challenges that our students encounter. 
  2. Lead and/or participate in workshops with UX/UI design partners and stakeholders to understand problems to solve. 
  3. Lead and/or participate in projects, from conception to execution, to meet priorities and requirements in an Agile, product-centric environment.  
  4. Work closely with UX/UI design partners and other UX writers to support the production of UX copy, design, development and SEO. 
  5. Attend user studies and iterate with your partners based on feedback. 
  6. Maintain versions of accurate, up-to-date copy docs; track messaging feedback (from stakeholders and legal reviewers). 
  7. Produce and present concepts and copy that is clear, concise, meaningful, and empathetic.
  8. Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to more junior leveled staff. 
  9. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

What You Bring to the Table

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human-computer Interaction, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Communications or similar and five (5) years of experience in an agency or UX setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience where one (1) year of relevant experience can replace every two (2) year of post-secondary education
  • A strong portfolio showcasing examples of market-leading user experience and content that converts

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • A strong portfolio showcasing examples of problem-solving and applying user-centered design principles: user stories, UX writing and content creation 
  • Developed creative content for landing pages, websites and UX
  • Ability to develop creative and original copy that aligns with the UOPX voice 
  • A great storyteller with a passion for the UX process.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in SEO
  • Persuasive and strong communicator
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive and focused approach to content and feedback
  • Agility and flexibility to adapt to changing requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative spirit with the willingness to work through ideas as a connected team

Hiring Range

The hiring range for this position is between $60700 and $91700.

Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location.
