Cultivate Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary, project appointment Content Specialist.

This appointment will run through September 2023, with a possible continuation of up to one year in duration depending on funding. Reporting to the Senior Director of Workforce and Resource Development, the Content Specialist will be a key member of the resource development team and will be independently responsible for collaborating to conceptualize, develop, and disseminate professional development materials and courses in the areas of early care and education with a focus on infant/toddler and preschool teaching practices. The Content Specialist serves as a key link between Cultivate Learning and its partner agency, the Office of Head Start’s National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching and Learning (NCECDTL).

We are currently hiring 1 temporary, full-time Content Specialist with content knowledge and professional development experience in the following areas:

  • Evidence-based practices in early care and education, with a focus on infant/toddler and preschool teaching practices that support equitable learning opportunities and environments for all children.
  • Anti-bias/anti-racist practices in education.
  • High-quality teacher-child interactions and environments.
  • Early learning leadership practices
  • Familiarity with Head Start Performance Standards, Multicultural Principles, and home visiting practices.
  • Collaboration and participation in cross-agency projects and workgroups.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In support of this effort the duties of the Content Specialist will include, but are not limited to the following: 

Content Development

  • Develop, write, and edit content for professional development materials. Formats include print, Web, digital, and others.
  • Translate evidence-based research materials into language that can be understood by college-level students, teachers, and other users.
  • Research existing evidence from multiple sources to identify appropriate practices to be highlighted by the Center.
  • Actively participate in a review and evaluation process, including peer review, to ensure the creation of quality content.
  • Collaborate across the center with the media team, graphic design and other units.
  • Lead projects from inception to completion and project management on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Specialist on marketing plans as needed.

Training

  • At the direction of NCECDTL, conduct periodic regional trainings.
  • Conduct culturally relevant and sustaining trainings.

Project Management

  • For individual projects, manage project launch, development, details and logistics, juggle priorities, and communicate regularly with project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams within Cultivate Learning and NCECDTL to coordinate and ensure the delivery of content and training activities.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field AND at least 3-5 years of experience working or consulting with early care and learning environments.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in writing, developing or delivering professional development for early childhood teachers and informational materials for parents.
  • Experience with Head Start, Head Start grantees, or Head Start National Center TA system. Equivalent early learning experience will be considered.
  • Commitment to equity in early learning and professional development for early care and education providers.
  • A commitment to working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and ability to acknowledge biases.
  • Experience with in-person and virtual trainings conducted and facilitated to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Experience in coordinating the content scope and sequence of professional development materials.
  • Ability to communicate complex teaching ideas in multiple formats – written, spoken, and digital media formats.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of a team.
  • Ability to problem solve, take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects, and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment in an organized and professional manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with team members and project stakeholders presented via written, spoken, and remote technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner.
  • Proficiency with a personal computing environment, Microsoft Office Suite, project management systems, and the Internet. 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, P-3, Education Leadership or Special Education
  • Professional experience developing higher education courses or curriculum and training materials for early learning
  • Coaching experience on effective teaching practices
  • Deep familiarity with multiple early learning assessment tools and/or certified and reliable on CLASS.
