Cultivate Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Content Specialist. Reporting to the Senior Director of NCECDTL, the Senior Content Specialist will be a key member of the resource development team and will be independently responsible for collaborating to conceptualize, develop, and disseminate professional development materials and training in the areas of early care and education with a focus on infant/toddler and preschool teaching practices. The Senior Content Specialist serves as a key link between Cultivate Learning and partner agency, the Office of Head Start’s National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching and Learning (NCECDTL).

We are currently hiring 1 fulltime Senior Content Specialist with content knowledge and professional development experience in the following areas:

  • Evidence-based practices in early care and education, with a focus on infant/toddler and preschool teaching practices
  • Anti-bias/anti-racist practices in education.
  • High quality teacher-child interactions and environments.
  • Leadership development in early learning settings.
  • Head Start Performance Standards and home visiting practices.
  • Leading the content development, delivery, and production of virtual professional development webisodes and webinars for early care and learning professionals - including project management and direction, content/scriptwriting, on-camera facilitation of audience learning.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Content Development

  • Develop, write, and edit professional development content for professional development materials delivered in synchronous, asynchronous, print, digital and virtual and in-person training formats.
  • Translate evidence-based research materials into culturally relevant and sustaining professional development material for college-level students, teachers, early care and education providers, and other users.
  • Actively participate in a review and evaluation process, including peer review, to ensure creation of quality content.
  • Collaborate across the center with the media, graphic design, and instructional design teams, and other cross-center units.
  • Coordinate with the Communications Specialist on marketing plans as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Training

  • At the direction of NCECDTL, conduct periodic regional and national trainings.
  • Conduct culturally relevant and sustaining trainings that promote equitable teaching and learning practices

Project Management

  • Project manage virtual PD webisodes and/or podcasts (e.g., Teacher Time, Todcasts, or Meaningful Makeover) for NCECDTL.
  • Manage project launch, development, details and logistics, juggle priorities, and communicate regularly with project stakeholders.
  • Present all aspects of training and resource content to project stakeholders and adjust programming based on feedback.
  • Spearhead fast-cycle and continuous evaluation efforts of content development and production process and iterate based on evaluation feedback.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams within Cultivate Learning and NCECDTL to coordinate and ensure delivery of content and training activities.
  • Lead the production teams on assigned multimedia projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s degree in education or related field, to include 5 years of experience working or consulting in education environments.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with Head Start, Head Start grantees, or Head Start National Center TA system.
  • Commitment to equity in early learning and professional development for early care and education providers.
  • A commitment to working in and fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and ability to acknowledge biases.
  • Experience in writing, developing, and editing professional development materials for early childhood teachers and informational materials for parents.
  • Experience with in-person and virtual trainings conducted and facilitated to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Experience in coordinating the content scope and sequence professional development materials.
  • Ability to communicate complex teaching ideas in multiple formats – written, spoken, and digital media formats.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of a team.
  • Ability to problem-solve, take initiative, set priorities, handle multiple projects, and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment in an organized and professional manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner.
  • Proficiency with personal computing environment, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and the Internet.
  • Familiarity with video/web conferencing technology such as Zoom or On24.
  • Ability to travel semi-frequently across the country for in-person trainings.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Ph.D. in education, early learning, human development
  • Coaching experience on effective teaching practices.
  • Deep familiarity with multiple early learning assessment tools and/or certified and reliable on CLASS or ERS measures.
  • Biliterate in Spanish or Somali.
  • Willingness to translate professional development material for Spanish and Somali speaking providers.
