Job description

Our Story

Xandr is a technology platform powering one of the largest global Advanced TV and Video advertising marketplaces in the industry. We scale our business as WarnerMedia people who independently build the Xandr platform and brand. For more than a decade, our data insights, premium content, powerful technology, and scaled direct-to-consumer distribution have given us a competitive edge — leading us to improving advertising for all brands, publishers, and consumers.

How do we do this? With talented, passionate people like you! We bring together people from diverse backgrounds and give them an opportunity to bring their ideas to life. Join our community to Make Advertising Better!

As a Technical Writer, you'll be part of our software engineering department, and will work closely with our Software Engineering and Product Management teams to produce accurate documentation for end-users and developers building on the Xandr platform. We’re looking for that rare and talented individual who has strong technical skills and also enjoys writing. You should be able to read and write API and SDK examples.

You will be expected to write your own examples as well as test examples provided by software engineers. We’ll be especially impressed if you’re able to write simple scripts or apps, and even more so if you can then clearly document them.

The kinds of documentation you'll be expected to write include:

  • Feature and process overviews
  • How-tos
  • Tutorials
  • Conceptual deep-dives
  • Developer docs for our web APIs and mobile SDK
  • Screen text and error messages for our Console UI

As a technical writer on the Docs team, you will

  • Research, plan, and write documentation for end-user (UI) and developer (API/SDK) audiences
  • Collaborate across Product, Engineering, User Experience, and Services to gather information and define documentation requirements
  • Review updates to APIs and SDKs based on auto-generated docs
  • Write conceptual documentation (user guides, how-tos) describing features and functionality
  • Clearly describe all new fields, methods, properties, and so on
  • Compose user interface texts and error messages for better product usability
  • Update and create useful examples
  • Follow existing style guides without losing sight of the big picture and understandability
  • Test documentation against the product to ensure completion and accuracy
  • Organize content to maximize navigation and discoverability
  • Create, organize, and maintain internal tools

You Have

  • Excellent writing skills: clarity, accuracy, and efficiency
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to learn complex, technical products
  • Experience documenting for both end-user (UI) and developer (API/SDK) audiences
  • Knowledge of DITA and structured authoring techniques
  • Ability to run and create simple API and SDK examples
  • Some experience writing scripts, web apps, or mobile app
  • Skilled at balancing multiple projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Work productively with a geographically distributed team
  • Writing skills that require minimal editing
  • Comfortable working with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Haves

  • Ability to read code (such as JavaScript)
  • Professional experience in software development and technical writing
  • Experience with documentation auto-generation technology such as OpenAPI (Swagger), JavaDocs, or JazzyDocs
  • Experience using source code revision control systems such as GitHub or BitBucket
  • Familiarity with Jenkins
  • Familiarity with online advertising and/or the advertising technology industry

Our Perks

  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage
  • Flexible time off including volunteer days, vacation, and holidays
  • Professional development resources and education reimbursement
  • Paid parental leave
  • Fitness reimbursement
  • AT&T internet/phone and HBOMax discounts
  • 401k with company match
