About the Team

You will be joining one of Workday’s most exciting organizations, the Experience Design and Development Group (EDDG). As a cross-functional organization of 500 individuals, EDDG is responsible for elevating Workday’s User Experience, and delivering products that more than 45 million users love. The world of work is changing, and we are at the forefront.

Workday enables millions of users - all types of workers from thousands of the world’s largest companies to be more productive and collaborative helping them do their best work every day. Our cloud-based SaaS suite of products are powerful and sophisticated yet need to be intuitive and delightful whether doing quick tasks in the mobile app or deep work planning, executing, and analyzing within one of our desktop products. In 2021 and beyond, we will continue to improve our existing experiences while bringing new ones to market.

The ideal candidate for our UX team is a thought-leader capable of making data-driven decisions to improve the quality and cohesion across the experience. You know how to resolve complex problems, collaborate with cross-functional teams to envision, design, and deliver high-quality experiences at scale. You inspire other designers, product managers, and engineers by creating a compelling vision and lead individuals across the organization to implement it. In doing so, you elevate the craft of your other workmates and enjoy teaching-by-doing and help to build a growing culture of continuous learning in the process.

As a Senior Content Design Manager, you will:

  • Manage a global content organization that delivers content design for enterprise users around the world
  • Scale the content org in size and impact while nurturing the team culture and involving the team in shaping the future of product designing at Workday
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard talented individuals who bring a unique, diverse range of perspectives.
  • Inspire and mentor content designers, champion and contribute to their work, guide them, and help them grow.
  • Create the space for content designers to develop new methods in Content Early/First.
  • Critique design work from a content perspective and provide concrete feedback.
  • Prioritize requests and allocate content resources according to where they’ll have maximum impact.
  • Actively build and nurture partnerships with UX design leaders, cross-functional teams, and partners.
  • Develop lightweight, scalable processes, workflows, and tools that motivates the team’s agility and quality of work.
  • Advocate for content design at Workday and represent it in the broader UX and content communities.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of demonstrated experience in content design or related fields.
  • 8+ years of proven experience managing, coaching and developing managers and direct reports.
  • 5 + years of proven experience working with product teams.
  • Good understanding of web and mobile technologies with an appetite for learning more.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and internationalization standard methodologies for content.
  • Experience shepherding content throughout an agile development process.
  • Experience with and a desire to continue to learn how to effectively champion your organization through strong storytelling
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills - you are comfortable interacting with other design groups, product management, engineering, and technical writing groups.

Other Qualifications

  • BA/BS or Master's degree preferred.
