The Xavier University of Louisiana Department of Marketing and Communications serves as a strategic advisor to partners and units across campus, purposefully fulfilling partners’ goals and objectives, helping to increase knowledge, supporting fundraising efforts, engaging students, alumni, faculty and staff and increase enrollment. The division proactively shapes the University’s brand and optimizes the University’s reputation internally and externally in a transparent manner. The team specializes in brand management, advertising, strategic communication, community engagement, media relations, digital and social media strategy, website development, content strategy, print and online publications and creative direction for videography and photography.  

Xavier University of Louisiana seeks applicants for the position of Web Content Specialist. Specifically, this role focuses on supporting, promoting and enhancing Xavier University of Louisiana's profile and elevating the University’s brand. This role builds, migrates, and enhances web pages that support the university’s various initiatives, events and departments.  

A successful candidate for this role will have a working knowledge of responsive design and CMS-based website publishing and graphic design support, strong interpersonal communication skills, experience and a desire to work closely and personally with people from across campus with varying levels of digital communications experience. Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Update website through page builds, search engine optimization and article development.¬†
  • Develop and maintain processes to keep content development and related digital projects running smoothly.¬†
  • Write, edit, and proofread content for Web pages, applications, social media, news media and other forms of communication to ensure consistency in style and tone as assigned.¬†
  • Maintain University social media content calendar by creating and pre-scheduling posts and graphic imagery and suggesting cultivated content for all communication channels.¬†
  • Complete website requests received via the university help desk in a timely and effective manner.¬†
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the marketing team, internal clients, Xavier colleagues in media, editorial, multimedia, business stakeholders, vendors/freelancers, project managers and other contributors including usability analysts, designers, testers and developers to ensure consistency in style, tone, branding and quality of www.xula.edu subsidiary sites and other online content.¬†
  • Manage production schedules for projects as a partner to the management team.¬†
  • Support the ongoing efforts of other content team members as assigned¬†
  • Create maintain website layout/user interface¬†
  • Integrate data from various back-end services and databases¬†
  • Create and maintain software documentation¬†
  • Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling the university site¬†
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights.¬†
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies¬†
  • Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests.¬†
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience¬†
  • Collaborate with agencies and other vendor partners.¬†
  • Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor‚Äôs degree in computer science, graphic design or digital marketing-related field; or Associate‚Äôs degree combined with at least 2 years of experience in digital marketing, graphic design and/or¬†CMS¬†systems.¬†¬†
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Acrobat, Premiere Pro or After Effects, InDesign, and Illustrator

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fundamental proficiency in web design, design imaging, multimedia programming and technology, content management and editing for video and audio

Special Requirements Summary

  1. Proven experience as a Web and Content specialist 
  2. Thorough understanding of marketing elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/Social media etc.) and market research methods 
  3. Solid Analytical and problem-solving skills 
  4. Demonstrable experience in marketing data analytics and tools 
  5. Proficient computer skills, including MS Office, marketing software (Adobe Creative Suite & CRM) and applications (Web analytics, Google Adwords etc.) 
  6. Knowledge of HTML, CSS and web development tools (e.g. Kentico) desired 
  7. Commercial Awareness 
  8. Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills. 
  9. Demonstrated success in managing extremely complex projects and processes. 
  10. Detailed knowledge of digital media and marketing disciplines. 
  11. Ability to be creative, resourceful, flexible, and a team player. 
  12. Excellent planning, and project management skills across multiple simultaneously developing platforms such as websites, social media, apps, mobile, etc. 
  13. Ability to set, manage, and meet deadlines. 
  14. Ability to integrate disparate and fragmented content and processes across departments. 
  15. Ability to work effectively and harmoniously work with technical and non-technical colleagues to successfully execute projects in support of marketing and business development goals.
