Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced UX Writer to join our team, working on products in the gaming and betting industry. This is a chance to use your UX writing skills to create engaging and responsible gambling experiences for our users, making a positive impact in a constantly evolving industry. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating clear, concise, and user-friendly copy for our digital products and platforms, including websites, mobile apps, and other interactive experiences. 

This is a fixed-term contract for 6 months. 

What you’ll do

You’ll make complex information simple. Using the right language, in the right place, in the right way, you’ll make it simpler, clearer and faster for customers to interact with the organisation. 

  • Create clear, concise, and user-friendly copy for digital products and platforms, including websites, mobile apps, and other interactive experiences
  • Help people who use the products feel welcome and supported, carefully considering user needs and the company’s mission 
  • Use strategic thinking to turn open-ended opportunities into actionable next steps
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that copy is aligned with user needs and business goals
  • Continuously research, test and iterate to improve user experience and usability
  • Create and maintain style guides, tone of voice guidelines, and other documentation to ensure consistency and clarity across all digital products and platforms
  • Research and stay up to speed on industry best practices
  • Continuously test and iterate to improve user experience and usability
  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of the written content and make improvements as needed.

Essential skills

  • Agile working: Understand and apply Agile methodology, work in a fast-paced environment, and use an iterative approach to enable rapid delivery. (Practitioner level)
  • Content concepts and prototyping: Understand and use different prototyping techniques to visualise content and demonstrate proposed changes. (Working level)
  • Stakeholder relationship management: Identify and communicate with stakeholders, build and maintain relationships, and use evidence to explain decisions. (Working level)
  • Strategic thinking: Contribute to content strategies and policies, create content patterns, and focus on outcomes. (Practitioner level)
  • User focus: Identify and understand user needs, use data and research to make decisions, and translate user stories into the content. (Working level)
  • User-centred content design: Design content to meet user needs, use plain language, follow accessibility requirements, and continuously improve content. (Working level)

Who you are

To succeed in this role, we think you’ll need the following:

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills
  • Desire to solve problems, big and small, for all kinds of users
  • The ability to learn about a new subject area quickly
  • Experience working on digital products and services
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage your time effectively
  • Working knowledge of accessibility principles and practices
  • Experience using style guidelines, metrics, and user feedback to inform content design decisions
  • Experience communicating design decisions and approaches with stakeholders at various levels
  • Experience leading workshops and discussions to facilitate collaborative content design
  • Extensive experience in writing for the web and other digital products
  • Experience coaching and mentoring other UX writers, helping them improve their skills and providing constructive feedback

UX writing task

If selected, you will be invited to complete a content task to test your technical ability and understanding of key content design principles. The task must be completed and returned by a specific deadline. You will be invited to an interview if you score well enough on the task.
