About YC

Y Combinator is the leading startup accelerator for entrepreneurs. Since 2005, YC has invested in over 4,000 companies, including Airbnb, Dropbox, Stripe, Reddit, Instacart, DoorDash, and Coinbase. Today, YC has built the most powerful startup community in the world alongside the products and programs to support founders for the life of their company.

About the team

We are a lean and ambitious team that helps produce high-quality storytelling and educational content consumed by founders around the world. We publish essential startup advice, founder stories, advice for job seekers, and exclusive looks inside Y Combinator and the startup ecosystem. We’re a group of technology optimists who believe entrepreneurship is one path to building a better world — the ideal candidate shares that passion and will use it to produce the most engaging and informative content for our audience of founders and aspiring founders globally.

We are looking for a Content Manager, Editorial to join as an integral part of our growing team. This role is a key member of the Outreach team, which owns all written, video, and audio content for YC, as well as the marketing and comms functions. This person will help build a long-term editorial strategy for the YC blog, YC Startup Library, and newsletter — and pursue new mediums and ideas to reach a broader audience. They will work with top YC founders, YC group partners and executives, and collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Communications. The right candidate is entrepreneurial, unafraid to take creative risks, and passionate about storytelling and startups.

What you’ll do

  • Create original content for the YC blog, YC Startup Library, and newsletter using the skills you’ve honed, including research, interviews, writing, editing, and publishing.
  • Build an editorial strategy designed to inspire founders and aspiring founders globally, and experiment with new mediums and ideas to reach a broader audience.
  • Discover new storylines and content ideas by staying connected to the team at YC and the YC founder community, and staying up to date on tech news.
  • Be the gatekeeper, copy editor, and project manager for all content published on the YC blog; help group partners, executives, and team leads share their insights publicly.
  • Work cross-functionally with YC group partners, executives, and team leads, and work closely with YC alumni; partner with the video, design and social media team at YC to raise awareness of published content.
  • Optimize content for SEO.

What you’ll need

  • 5-10 years of experience writing and/or editing
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management while balancing multiple projects
  • Highly creative with the ability to make straightforward, educational content engaging
  • Strong persuasive communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience communicating and coordinating with C-level executives and business leaders preferred
  • Contagious curiosity and passion for entrepreneurship and technology
