Job description

We’re looking for a Content Coordinator (North America) to support our content team with administrative and creative tasks that will contribute to the growth of Yoto at an exciting moment in the company’s journey.

Nice to meet you!

Yoto is inspiring the next generation of independent, creative minds.

Our screen-free audio players let kids listen, learn and play at their own pace. All while making sure they’re safe to explore what inspires them.

The award-winning Yoto Player launched in early 2020 and quickly found a home on the world’s playmats, kitchen counters and bedside tables. It was later named one of TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Inventions of 2020. Yoto Mini, our portable player, launched in late 2021 and has accompanied kids on countless adventures. It won a D&AD pencil in 2022.

Our Card Store has 1,000+ titles from some of the world's best creators, publishers and labels – think LEGO and Peppa Pig, Roald Dahl and Eric Carle, indie musicians and Sony. We also create Yoto Originals like this one.

Yoto Content team

Content is at the heart of our business, and we have a dedicated team of children’s media specialists – with experience across publishing, music, education, and audio production – who carefully consider every title that makes it into our library. We license existing audio from some of the biggest names in the world of kids’ entertainment (Disney, Penguin Random House, Mattel, HarperCollins and more), and also develop and produce our own content as part of our Yoto Originals range.

You will report to the Head of Content Acquisition in North America and work closely with the other members of the North America content team, and the wider global content team which is currently 12 people strong, and growing!

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing the North America list of upcoming content at various stages of production and liaising with internal teams to solve any issues that arise;
  • Maintaining the tracker that contains the metadata and contractual information for North America titles;
  • Assisting with scheduling new titles and working with internal teams to help ensure timely delivery of assets and information from our partners;
  • Negotiating cover fees and master recording fees with relevant rights owners when necessary;
  • Drafting contracts and managing contract tracking in conjunction with wider content and legal teams;
  • Filing documents;
  • Assisting with royalty tracking and reporting process;
  • Reviewing audio content for acquisition and publication;
  • Conducting research around DEI for new acquisitions;
  • Assisting the wider team with research and sourcing information from partners;
  • Proofreading;
  • Submitting certain approvals to publishers;
  • Compiling data to help Content Manager and Licensing Manager keep partners informed and up to date;
  • Maintaining contacts spreadsheet;
  • Assisting with the selection of titles for Yoto Club;
  • Tracking community content requests and engagement;
  • Scheduling attendance at international conferences for relevant team members as well as supporting with ad hoc scheduling;
  • Keeping track of spend against budget.

These are some examples of tasks that will be part of your role, but no two days will be the same.

What you’ll bring:

  • Excellent attention to detail, a high level of organization and efficiency (this is a job that requires maintaining a lot of important documents, so this is a must!);
  • A passion for audio content, children’s media and inclusive content;
  • 3-4 years of administrative experience – publishing background preferred;
  • Excellent verbal communication, with the ability to build strong links within the company, which operates in a hybrid environment;
  • Confidence learning to operate new platforms (such as Monday.com);
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a team, and also manage your own projects;
  • Ability to think on your feet, work independently and learn fast;
  • Spanish or French language fluency preferred;
  • Some knowledge of the Canadian publishing market is preferred, but not essential.

What we offer in return:

  • Generous share options – we’re all invested in Yoto’s success;
  • Hybrid working with a choice-based approach (for this position, we would love you to come into the office at least once a week, preferably twice);
  • A Work from Anywhere policy, giving you the opportunity to temporarily work from a different location;
  • 20 vacation days, 11 holidays;
  • Health, dental and vision insurance – 85% of costs for you and your family paid for by Yoto;
  • 401(k) plan matching up to 4%, after 6 months of service;
  • Yoto player and starter pack of cards;
  • 2 volunteer days a year;
  • Office in downtown Brooklyn for NYC-based employees;
  • A collaborative, tech-focused, creative environment;
  • Company socials and celebrations, including our annual YotoFest.

About Yoto

We're a Series A tech company with a well-funded and fast-growing international team.

Our offices are in London and New York, and we also have a small and excellent team based in France. We have in-house expertise in hardware and software, technology development, product, marketing, commercial and retail.

We operate a ‘choice-based’ approach to where we work. This means the day-to-day decisions on where you work are up to you. You could call it hybrid working but we don’t see the need to be that formal. We see it as more fluid and we trust our team to make choices that reflect the needs of their role, team and the wider organization. We are therefore ideally looking for someone NYC-based (or who can easily commute to NYC) who can manage a balance of home working and sometime in the office with the rest of the team. That said, we are open to fully remote applications if the candidate is the right fit for the position and has had previous experience in a remote setting.

We’re excited to build and develop a tight-knit and energetic team to help make Yoto the next great family brand! Flexible working and autonomy are key to life at Yoto. We support working parents because we know that life and work need to work together. And just as we share audio content from a diverse community of creators, we also strive to build an inclusive team. Our passionate DEI group raises new voices, beliefs, and perspectives to help everyone at Yoto feel heard. Check out our website for more info on our approach to People and Planet.
