Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of direct experience managing audience growth and strategy for a channel (or channels) on YouTube or other platforms.
  • Experience with the YouTube platform.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of SQL language and ability to extract, cross-reference, and interpret data from different sources.
  • Ability to drive viewership or online growth on YouTube.
  • Passion for YouTube and content creation.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication and presentation skills with ability to operate with flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving and collaborative environment.
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal skills.

As a YouTube Shorts Content Strategist, you will develop and scale out best practices that empower our Short Video creators to maximize their success on the platform. You are well versed in internet culture, YouTube, and the short video space, and will be able to proactively find and surface content trends and creative strategies as they arise in the space. Capturing these insights in scaled strategic resources, you will help set best practices for YouTube’s short video creators globally, and work directly with cross-functional teams as well with key creators and partners to drive adoption of new features and best practices.

You’re a problem solver by nature and your strategic thinking skills will be critical in devising new tactics and turning data into actionable information to both enhance content optimization and influence product development. You will be comfortable working cross-functionally in a results-driven environment, and be able to multitask, online media savvy, and want to be part of an innovative global team that is forging new ground in the world of media.

Responsibilities

  • Regular consumption of short video content, with an aim for identifying strategy, culture, and performance trends, both proactively and among specific partner groups.
  • Develop, test and distribute insights, content strategies and best practices via scaled decks, infographics, and playbooks.
  • Analyze and interpret partner performance, including viewership patterns, growth metrics, and creative strategy. Based on this analysis, provide clear content strategy recommendations to select partners.
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, strategic partnerships, marketing, PR, product, and data teams to support audience development initiatives and YouTube priorities.
