Job description

About the team

StreetEasy is reimagining the way people buy, sell, and rent homes across New York City and New Jersey! Used more than any other local real estate platform, StreetEasy’s website and mobile apps provide vetted and verified listings, plus intuitive tools and data-driven guides to help renters, buyers and sellers unlock all the possibilities of the city. If you’re seeking an opportunity to have an immediate impact on a product with widespread adoption by New Yorkers and the potential to reshape the residential real estate industry, we’d love to hear from you!

We’re looking for an experienced content strategist who has proven experience developing content that has a meaningful and measurable impact on key marketing and business objectives. You’ll craft a holistic content strategy for all target audiences around key themes that ladder back to the overall business objectives and brand narrative, partnering with teams across the organization to integrate the right content at the right time across product and marketing touchpoints. You’ll also oversee content creation across the StreetEasy blog, video, events, and newsletters–maintaining and optimizing evergreen content to help grow our audience and identifying new opportunities based on market trends and business priorities. While you’ll have the opportunity to write, if desired, your work will inform the assignments given to other writers. The ideal candidate will bring knowledge of NYC real estate and housing but pre-existing expertise in real estate is not required.

You will get to

  • Own the content strategy for StreetEasy, which has both B2C (renters, buyers, sellers) and B2B (agents, brokerages, real estate professionals) audiences.
  • Coordinate and build content for integrated marketing campaigns in partnership with internal teams across Brand, Social, Lifecycle, and Product Marketing.
  • Propose new coverage opportunities and content types by conducting competitive analysis to identify content gaps.
  • Perform trends research to identify and prioritize which stories and topics our writers should update to meet our readers’ needs in the moments the information matters most.
  • Perform content and SEO audits to ensure our new and old cross-channel content is optimized to deliver against marketing and business objectives.
  • Establish, maintain and advocate for StreetEasy content standards in partnership with Creative and UX Content Strategy.

This role has been categorized as a Hybrid position. “Hybrid” employees regularly work at an existing ZG corporate office for approximately 10 to 80 per cent of their time each month, and the rest of the time they may work from a remote physical location of their choice within a reasonable commuting distance from the corporate office which must be identified to the Company in advance. The Recruiter and Hiring Manager will set expectations on the employee’s preferred time in the office. ZG has not defined a reasonable distance and expects employees will use judgment in determining this for themselves and understand the implications regarding time commitment and cost of a daily commute.

In Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City the standard base pay range for this role is $98,600.00 - $157,400.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada and New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

  • A strong writer and editor with 6+ years of experience as a content strategist comfortable in many mediums from long-form editorial articles to videos, newsletters, and events.
  • An analytical marketer with proven experience using customer insights to help inform content strategies, including experience conducting keyword research and trends analysis.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • An innovator with a test and learn mentality who is up to date on new technology, changes, and opportunities in the content space.
  • A strong collaborator with experience managing freelance writers and working across a wide range of internal teams.
  • Have a strong grasp of SEO methodologies and the ability to edit content with an eye toward the importance of page titles, headlines, internal links, and meta descriptions.
  • Have experience using WordPress or a strong understanding of CMS systems and how to navigate them.
  • Have a keen understanding and experience in developing content to work across various channels (e.g. YouTube, TikTok, etc.) to deliver the ideal format to serve the audience.
