Content design in AI-powered systems

As AI-powered experiences become more embedded in digital products, content designers are being asked to design far more than individual screens or strings of copy. Language now needs to work across systems - supporting humans, guiding automation, and maintaining clarity, consistency, and trust at scale.

In this talk, I'll explore how the role of UX writing and conversation design is shifting from interface-level copy to language system design. Drawing on real-world experience designing enterprise-scale, AI-driven support experiences, I'll share how content designers can adapt their craft to work effectively across tools, teams, and automated systems - without losing humanity or usability.

We'll look at why traditional UX writing approaches often break down in AI-powered environments, and what changes when content must serve multiple audiences at once: users, internal teams, and machines. I'll also cover practical ways to think about patterns, intent, tone, and constraints, and how these elements come together to create scalable, resilient content systems.
