Job description
Armstrong is looking for a highly qualified professional with at least 4 years of experience to join our team as a full-time technical writer.
Responsibilities:
- Creating simplified user content, including technical manuals, training guides, journal articles, tutorials, and software documentation.
- With subject matter experts to guide you through the entire process, you'll make complex information accessible to employees and the target audience
- Proofread and edit content created by team members and other writing staff
- Select and adopt a uniform writing style across all media and other platforms for consistency within and outside the organization.
- Communicate with product designers and developers to understand product details
- Collaborate with technical staff.
- Analyse and manage existing and potential content
- Produce tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications
Required Skills:
- Candidates preferably spend three to five years as a technical writer for engineering, IT, automation, or related industries
- Holding at least a bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Computer Science or Engineering prepares candidates. If the employee has a degree in a non-technical field such as Journalism, English, or Communications, they must have technical and scientific knowledge and training
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Must possess diverse knowledge of complex technical subjects and fields to understand technical information before making it easier for others
- Excellent written communication skills to deliver solutions as per users' needs within the technical framework
- Should be adept at communication in all aspects
- Organized thought process and the ability to be clear, precise, and as detailed as possible to break down complex technical information into easily understood digestible parts
- Strong experience owning an end-to-end documentation creation process
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Ability to collaborate, understand, and work well with other writers, developers, users, editors, designers, etc.
Desired Skills:
- Experience creating infographics such as diagrams, screenshots, workflows, graphs, etc.
- Experience in prioritizing and understanding the lifecycle of documentation from pre-release through on-going maintenance
- Experience in prioritizing and understanding the lifecycle of documentation from pre-release through on-going maintenance
- Knowledge of writing tools such as Adobe Framework, WordPress, Microsoft Visio, etc. would be an advantage but is not required
