Our team is a vibrant mix of talents, ranging from Creatives, Influencer Marketers, Brand & Content Strategists to Account Managers, Programmatic and Marketing Automation Consultants. Together, we blend imaginative storytelling and performance-driven strategies with cutting-edge technology to create engaging digital experiences that build lasting relationships with clients like Bol.com, Netflix, Canva, Foot Locker, Philips & Biscoff.
Job Purpose
For our Creative & Media department, we’re looking for a seasoned Senior Content & Comms Strategist. You’ll lead the strategic direction for some of our most high-profile clients, owning the thinking that transforms creative ambition into brand and business impact by shaping how, where, and when they show up in the world.
From big launches to content ecosystems, paid to organic, awareness to conversion - you bring clarity to the chaos and help creative teams, clients, and media specialists pull in the same direction. This role is perfect for someone who moves confidently between strategic depth and creative thinking, who can spot a cultural insight and turn it into a comms idea, and who can build lasting relationships with both internal teams and senior clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end development of content and comms strategies across the customer journey, leading large-scale, multi-channel, multi-market projects with clarity and vision.
- Translate business objectives into strong creative briefs and message frameworks that inspire teams and drive results.
- Work hand-in-hand with brand strategists to bring positioning to life through storytelling and smart channel, message and format choices.
- Collaborate with creatives to shape campaign and content concepts, offering strategic and platform-specific guidance rooted in audience behavior and media innovation.
- Partner with media strategists, digital strategists, influencer specialists, and external agencies to align messaging and rollout across touchpoints.
- Apply audience insights, cultural trends, and data to inform strategic thinking.
- Act as the strategic voice in client relationships, leading workshops, guiding C-level conversations, and ensuring strategic excellence at every stage.
- Proactively identify growth opportunities for clients and for DEPT®, shaping future work and contributing to long-term account success.
- Contribute to new business and pitch work, collaborating with other strategic and creative leaders across the agency.
- Be a thought leader within DEPT®, bringing fresh perspectives to the table, mentoring junior strategists, providing guidance, feedback, and helping shape the future of our strategic offering.
- Be a proud ambassador for clients like Bol, ING, Canva and many more!
What We Are Looking For
- You have finished your HBO-/WO- education (Bachelors or Masters).
- 7+ years of experience in content, comms, creative or connections strategy, with proven agency experience.
- Proven experience building integrated strategies that combine creative storytelling with channel planning, content architecture, and media execution.
- Strong grasp of digital and traditional media ecosystems, and how different content formats play different roles.
- Confident working from brand positioning, audience journeys, or campaign insights to build a strategic direction that is both smart and actionable.
- Excellent storyteller and presenter, with the ability to bring strategic ideas to life in a compelling and clear way.
- Comfortable leading client conversations and collaborating with creatives, strategists, media experts, and data specialists.
- Strong instinct for culture and communication trends: what’s happening now, and what’s coming next.
- Independent, proactive, and unafraid to make decisions in the moment.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior strategists is a plus.
- Fluent in Dutch and English (this is a must for this role).
