Job Title: Technical Writer – Workday Implementation
Location: Plano, TX - Hybrid (Must be local to Plano, TX and able to attend onsite meetings.)
Duration: 11 Months (June 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026)
Hours: 160 hours/month (Total: 1,760 hours)
Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support a Texas regional tolling authority in updating internal policies and procedures impacted by their ongoing Workday implementation. The selected candidate will focus on documenting business processes, aligning operational procedures with the new Workday configuration, and ensuring clear, accessible internal documentation for both end users and administrators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, IT, and other business units to gather, understand, and document changes to policies and procedures related to Workday.
- Create, revise, and standardize various types of documentation, including:
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Business process documentation
- Policy manuals
- End-user reference guides
- Translate complex business processes and system changes into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Ensure all documentation aligns with organizational standards and compliance requirements.
- Participate in stakeholder meetings (virtual and onsite) to gather feedback and clarify content requirements.
- Maintain version control and manage updates throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the development of knowledge transfer and training materials, where applicable.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, ideally with exposure to Workday implementations or ERP systems in general.
- Strong understanding of policy and procedure documentation across HR, Finance, and administrative functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor content for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience working in public sector or transportation/tolling environments is a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and documentation tools such as SharePoint, Confluence, and Visio.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple documentation streams, and meet deadlines.
- Must be local to the Plano, TX area and available to attend onsite meetings as needed.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience working with a state or regional transportation authority or participating in a public sector ERP rollout.
- Familiarity with Workday HCM and/or Financials modules.
- Understanding of compliance, audit, and operational governance in tolling or transportation sectors.
