Join one of the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For, known for innovation, impact, and employee-centered culture. We're seeking a Technical Writer to lead internal documentation efforts for a critical project involving a robust design system used across a large-scale software organization.
We're looking for a documentation-first, content-savvy writer who is structured, analytical, and technically inclined. You'll be responsible for auditing, rewriting, and organizing internal content with a focus on improving clarity, consistency, and scalability across teams. This is a 12-month contract offering the opportunity to work cross-functionally and explore the use of generative AI in modern documentation workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with subject matter experts across the company to extract, structure, and refine complex information into user-friendly content.
- Audit and analyze existing content libraries to identify overlaps, gaps, and opportunities for consolidation, optimization, and improved information architecture of the design system documentation.
- Author internal documentation in accordance with our shared content strategy, style guidelines, and best practices.
- Leverage AI technologies to enhance efficiency in content creation, management, and analysis, exploring innovative applications for generative AI in our content workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Journalism, English, Library Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding of generative AI technologies, including prompting techniques and their practical applications in content creation and management. Have interest in and a basic understanding of how large language and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) models work, and the role content plays in their functionality.
- Proven experience authoring and managing internal technical documentation within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with content modeling and information architecture.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams.
- A strategic and analytical systems thinker with the ability to solve complex content problems and develop scalable solutions.
Extra credit for
- A proven track record in metadata management, content management systems (CMS), taxonomy, ontology, and knowledge graphs.
- Experience working within or using a design system, especially contributing to or documenting a scalable, enterprise-level system.
