Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to create and edit technical documents, standard operating procedures, and user guides. In this role, you will translate complex information into clear, concise content while collaborating with requirements and development teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of all documentation.
This is a full-time position supporting Cogent People’s mission-critical initiatives in the Healthcare domain.
Responsibilities
- Develop, edit and maintain technical documents, including business and functional requirements, system specifications, user manuals, training materials, presentations, and standard operating procedures.
- Translate complex technical and operational concepts into clear and accessible documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and verify technical content.
- Maintain document version control, approvals and traceability to ensure deliverables are audit-ready.
- Support full deliverables lifecycle, from initial drafts through internal reviews, client submission and revision cycles based on feedback.
- Ensure all documents comply with editorial and government specifications (e.g., Section 508 compliance), maintaining quality, format, style, and accuracy according to project and customer standards.
- Work independently and as part of a team, adhering to government quality assurance procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with over 4 years of experience in technical writing and editing across various industries.
- Strong expertise in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with documentation management tools such as SharePoint and Confluence.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Proven experience collaborating directly with technical subject matter experts (SMEs) and coordinating across multiple teams.
- Proficient in creating user-friendly documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences, with strong multitasking and organizational abilities.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality and accurate work.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience creating diagrams and process flows using tools like Microsoft Visio or Lucidchart
- Experience using plain language guidelines and ensuring compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards.
- Experience in the Health Insurance Marketplace or CMS Federal Facilitated Marketplace is preferred.
- Technical Writing Certification or training preferred.
