Job Overview

As the Lead Content Strategist, the successful candidate will work within an agile marketing team to lead the development of an enterprise-wide content strategy. The Content Strategist will be responsible for establishing EDC’s editorial voice, determining content needs, and contribute to channel selection and distribution. This position leads content planning and is responsible for the editorial calendar. The content strategist works within the CONTENT COE which is also responsible for content promotion, management, and measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve the enterprise-wide content strategy aligning with short-term and long-term communications, marketing and knowledge business targets and consumer needs.
  • Collaborate with communications, marketing, and knowledge business teams to plan and develop content that aims to inform, entertain, inspire, and engage EDC audiences.
  • Lead the development of an enterprise-wide editorial calendar and ensure alignment across department and organization
  • Collect and integrate information about personas; collaborate with research, CX, and other key business stakeholders to collect research and analysis on customers & audiences
  • Develops the strategy for managing the content lifecycle process
  • Liaise with content writers and designers to ensure brand consistency and alignment with identified processes and technology.
  • Track and analyze content performance metrics and make necessary adjustments to the content strategy as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to draw consumer’s attention and establish content strategies to convert new and existing customers.
  • Benchmark EDC content to ensure we are providing a unique offering in the market.
  • Collaborate with the Director(s) and other department leadership, develops strategic annual plans and programs that effectively integrate with overall Corporate Communications, Marketing & Knowledge Business strategies that are measurable in design and metric in execution.
  • Ensures the development of content governance guidelines for tone, style, and voice of all content, and ensuring consistency across all platforms
  • Understands enterprise strategic plan and aligns projects/programs/campaigns/activities, accordingly, manages multiple projects independently, drafts recommendations, customizes processes/outputs to audience.
  • Interfaces with departments across the organization, with senior staff and with other critical functions staff as needed and as appropriate on issues and matters related to the goals and priorities of enterprise content strategy
  • Helps enforce and manage the organization's brand identity and adheres to brand guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with digital marketing and content marketing trends and potential new channels and strategies, social content integration, content personalization, as well as content development for Account Based Marketing (ABM) tactics.
  • Familiarity with Generative AI tools for content creation and a keen interest in leveraging AI technologies to enhance content marketing operations.

Screening Criteria

  • Undergraduate Degree in a related field such as marketing, public relations, communications or journalism, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in content strategy/content development
  • Advanced knowledge of marketing principles and practices
  • Excellent copywriting skills
  • Significant SEO knowledge
  • Experience with content measurement frameworks
  • Experience with traditional and digital marketing channels, content marketing and distribution platforms.
  • Experience leading a strategic content transformation.

Asset

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies

Salary Range

Lead Content Strategist, Demand Generation (12 months):

Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $92,355 To $123,140.

Location

Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Montreal, Toronto or Mississauga. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
