Job description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Technical Writer to support the development, maintenance, and management of technical and operational documentation across enterprise technology projects and managed services environments. The successful candidate will work closely with technical teams, project stakeholders, and business users to create clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation. This role requires strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable content for different audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Documentation Development
- Create, review, and maintain technical documentation, user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and operational manuals
- Develop system documentation, process flows, knowledge base articles, and support materials
- Translate technical information into clear and concise documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ensure documentation adheres to established standards, templates, and governance requirements
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, system administrators, developers, and business stakeholders to gather information
- Conduct interviews and information-gathering sessions to understand system functionality and operational processes
- Coordinate document reviews and approvals with relevant stakeholders
- Documentation Governance & Quality
- Maintain version control and document repositories
- Ensure documentation remains current and aligned with system enhancements, process changes, and operational requirements
- Perform quality reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of documentation
- Support documentation audits and compliance requirements where applicable
- Organize and manage documentation libraries and knowledge repositories
- Support knowledge transfer activities during project implementation and operational transitions
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for documentation processes and standards
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, Communications, or related discipline
- 2 to 5 years of experience in technical writing, documentation management, or knowledge management roles
- Experience creating technical documents within IT infrastructure, software applications, systems integration, or managed services environments
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, SharePoint, Confluence, or similar documentation platforms
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple documentation deliverables and deadlines
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting IT projects, system implementations, or managed services operations
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and IT service management environments
- Experience with process mapping, workflow documentation, and business process documentation
- Knowledge of document control and version management practices
- Exposure to cloud, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, or enterprise applications documentation is advantageous
