This position is responsible for creating engaging content and daily content updates on the Government’s main website, PrinceEdwardIsland.ca, as well as any other digital products developed and maintained by the Strategic Communications team. This includes creating the design and layout of promotional and customizable web sites with a focus on the visual aspects of a site, such as its layout and its usability.

Duties will Include:

  • Provide advice on content alternatives, solutions and approaches to ensure a client centric approach.
  • Participate in content projects for departments with a focus on client centric approach which is digital by design and maximizes features available from the Web Digital Office.
  • Deliver presentations and education sessions on how to use the web to promote products and services.
  • Serve as liaison between Communications staff and IT Shared Services with departments and agencies for content-related questions, options, and solutions.
  • Work closely with project teams, editors, Department Web Coordinator Administrators and designers to coordinate web site content and make sure it caters to the needs of the target audiences.
  • Manage and create a range of content that is accessible to a wide variety of users and effectively act as a project manager.
  • Provide support and services to other users across government, as well as work with the Web Digital Office and internal IT staff to ensure the system meets the needs of the government and maintains established infrastructure, standards and practices.
  • Responsible for implementing visual elements that users see and interact with in a web site.
  • Ensure the Government of PEI website contains rich, accurate, useful, and accessible information regarding its programs and services and that it is serving the business goals of government.
  • Responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to website and digital marketing performance.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in Digital marketing, Multi-media, Communications, Web design, or a related course.
  • Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered.
  • Experience working on large, high visibility, public-facing websites, and/or branding initiatives.
  • Experience in content creation, such as writing, graphic design, web design, or multimedia content development.
  • Experience using web monitoring tools and troubleshooting identified issues.
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring, managing relationships and the expectations of a wide range of key stakeholders and targeted solution users.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an advanced user of the government’s (CMS) content management system.
  • A thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methodology involved in monitoring web user activity, providing reports that support business uses, the design of websites and migrating content for online users.
  • A thorough knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methodology involved in digital marketing, optimizing call to actions and improving user experiences.
  • Sound knowledge of keyword research tools, social media platforms, search engine optimization, and search engine marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as a team member with excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Applicants must have a good previous work and attendance record.

Other Qualifications:

  • Additional related education or experience would be considered an asset.
  • Coursework or certification in web design or graphic design would be considered an asset.

Preference will be given to UPSE Civil employees as per the UPSE Civil Collective Agreement.
