Job description

Communication Content Manager

National Joint Registry (NJR)

Location: UK, remote working, home-based

Salary: Circa £45,000, dependent on experience level

If you are seeking a great opportunity to work on a range of engaging communication project activity within a vital healthcare organisation, we would love to hear from you.

We are a small, dedicated team working in a dynamic and often fast-paced environment, and we are seeking an experienced Communication Content Manager to join us. As a key member of the NJR Management Team, you will play an important role in shaping and delivering communications and stakeholder engagement activity across a diverse portfolio of work. Working collaboratively with colleagues and partners, you will help to ensure our communications are effective, engaging and aligned with organisational priorities.

The mission of the National Joint Registry is to collect and analyse high-quality and relevant data about joint replacement surgery to provide timely warnings of issues relating to patient safety. In a continuous drive to improve patient outcomes and to ensure the quality and value of joint replacement surgery, we collect data to monitor and report on surgical outcomes, as well as to enable and support orthopaedic research. The NJR is one of the most influential healthcare registries in the world, with a significant international profile. Our strategy is overseen by the NJR Board, designated as an NHS England ‘expert committee’, that reports through the NJR Chair into NHS England.

The Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP) hosts the National Joint Registry, which is managed as a separate entity. HQIP is an independent organisation established to promote quality in healthcare and to increase the impact that clinical audit has on health care improvement.

HQIP manages NHS clinical audit work programmes on behalf of NHS England and other devolved nations. This includes the National Clinical Audit and Patient Outcome Programme (NCAPOP) which consists of over forty national clinical audits and clinical outcome review programmes. HQIP is supported by two parent organisations: The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and The Royal College of Nursing.

Communication Content Manager (NJR)

The main role is in managing relevant work within the NJR communication team including:

  • Project support for the development and publication for our Annual Report, alongside our Associate Director and members of our Editorial Committee.
  • Website management, including content development and oversight of analytics.
  • Support for meetings and events, liaising with a range of stakeholders in the organising of logistics and briefings for our presence at events around the country.
  • Managing the NJR’s annual award programme for hospitals who have achieved our award criteria and targets.
  • Creating informative and infographic material to help to explain the work of the NJR.

This is a remote-based role, with the occasional requirement to travel to work meetings, which are mostly held in London. Work will involve regular interaction with the Associate Director of Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, our Communication Engagement Manager and with other members of the NJR Management Team to collaborate on ad hoc activities and for relevant support, resources and content, to enable us to effectively communicate and deliver on a wide range of NJR workstreams.

As the largest national orthopaedic registry in the world, we have a lot to be proud about, so you’ll play an important role in helping us to continually raise our profile.

We would love to hear from you if you have ten-years’ plus experience in working in a broad communications role which has included project management responsibilities, have developed and honed great communication skills, and would like to work with a small, enthusiastic team, supporting the delivery of an impactful programme of work.
