Technical Writer

M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.

As a Technical Writer (part-time), you'll be the voice behind WMATA’s infrastructure documentation—crafting clear, precise reports and project materials. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture lessons learned, update key manuals, and keep critical communications flowing. From daily Procore logs to maintaining feedback databases, your words will help drive safe, efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of reports;
• Collaboration with the project team to support drafting of written materials;
• Collaboration with JDAC staff and other WMATA offices to collect lessons learned and update WMATA’s Adjacent Construction Project Manual;
• Submittal of daily logs in a timely manner through WMATA’s Procore system; and
• Preparation and maintenance of comment and response databases.

Qualifications

• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in technical writing for infrastructure planning and/or engineering projects;
• Experience in technical writing for standards, rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and handbooks;
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Oracle PeopleSoft and Procore; and
• Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.

Part-Time Salary Range

$50,000 - $62,000
