Job description

The Technical Communications team at Tungsten Automation is responsible for creating clear, accurate, and consistent documentation that helps customers and partners successfully use our products. The Technical Writer position is an entry-level role that requires completion of industry-standard documentation tasks, with guidance from senior writers or management as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Writers may perform some or all of the following tasks, based on business needs:

  • Write, edit, and maintain product documentation, including:
    • Installation and configuration guides
    • Online help and release notes
    • Administrator and developer guides
    • API documentation
  • Review documentation for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and adherence to corporate and departmental standards and styles.
  • Use AI-enabled tools to streamline routine tasks, improve efficiency, and ensure accuracy according to company AI governance and data privacy standards.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Support to understand product features, plans, and timelines.
  • Review user interface text for clarity and consistency.
  • Verify documentation against product builds and internal releases.
  • Coordinate and participate in technical and cross-functional reviews.
  • Adhere to product development processes and schedules to deliver documentation on time.
  • Assist other technical writers through peer reviews and editing support.
  • Work with the Localization team to prepare English text for accurate translation.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in technical communication.

Qualifications

Required Experience

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Two or more years of relevant technical experience. Experience using AI tools effectively to write prompts and evaluate output quality.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a similar discipline.
  • Familiarity with Oxygen XML Author or other DITA XML authoring tool.
  • Familiarity with the Git version control system. Ability to leverage AI to create, develop, and scale documentation to meet product and departmental requirements.
