Focus: We are seeking a Technical Writer who will be responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation that communicates complex technical information to various audiences, including developers, end-users, and stakeholders. This role requires a strong understanding of technical concepts, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to ensure documentation is aligned with product updates and user needs.
Technical Writer Essential Job Functions:
- Collaborate with various internal teams across programs to identify and address documentation needs, ensuring alignment with product and system updates.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive documentation plan, including gathering and analyzing technical and product information.
- Independently create, review, revise, and maintain clear documentation for both technical and non-technical users, ensuring accuracy and usability.
- Ability to engage with peers and stakeholders to identify priorities of work, manage priorities for program growth.
- Plan, schedule, and track documentation tasks to meet product release dates and client deliverables, while maintaining a well-organized documentation library.
- Publish and maintain standardized templates for documentation, providing guidance to developers and community members to ensure consistency and quality.
Technical Writer Minimum Requirements:
- Must meet one of the following requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related discipline with 1+ years’ relevant experience; OR, High School Diploma with 5+ years relevant experience
- Proven ability to create clear and effective documentation for audiences with varying levels of technical expertise, including technical programming guides, developer documentation, end-user documentation, and tutorials.
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to understand and convey complex systems.
- Experience working in a fast-paced agile environment, demonstrating proactive and strategic problem-solving skills to meet objectives across multiple products or subject areas.
- This position requires a US Government Secret Security Clearance.
Location-Specific Requirements:
- Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
- This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required.
- This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies.
- The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen.
