CornerStone Staffing is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support a state government agency in documenting complex systems and procedures related to Texas Vital Statistics. This role involves translating technical and regulatory information into clear, user-friendly documentation to support IT, policy, and operational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation in alignment with Texas Vital Statistics laws, policies, and procedures.
- Create user guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and policy documentation.
- Interpret complex data and business processes to produce concise reports for leadership and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with analysts, developers, and managers to gather information and ensure accuracy.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio) for content creation and document formatting.
- Ensure consistency, clarity, and compliance in all documentation.
- Organize, track, and manage document revisions and version control.
- Communicate effectively—verbally and in writing—with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Review and interpret handwritten records, including cursive writing, for inclusion in documentation.
Minimum Requirements:
- 8+ years of technical writing experience, preferably in public health, government, or IT-related fields.
- Strong working knowledge of Texas Vital Statistics policies, regulations, and systems.
- Expertise with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
- Skilled in business process analysis, documentation structuring, and policy summarization.
- Excellent communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
- Experience working under pressure with multiple stakeholders and resolving conflicts diplomatically.
- Ability to produce accurate documentation from handwritten and electronic sources.
