Job Summary: HIA is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Technical Content Writer to create clear, concise, and engaging documentation for our hospitality products. As a Technical Content Writer, you will play a crucial role in empowering our users and internal teams with the information they need to effectively understand and utilize our offerings. You will translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to our brand voice.
Responsibilities:
- Research, write, and edit various types of technical content, including user manuals, API documentation, knowledge base articles, tutorials, release notes, FAQs, and internal documentation.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), including engineers, product managers, and support teams, to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
- Understand the target audience and tailor content to their specific needs and technical understanding.
- Organize and structure information logically and effectively, utilizing appropriate formatting and visuals (e.g., screenshots, diagrams).
- Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect product changes and improvements.
- Adhere to style guides, branding guidelines, and content standards to ensure consistency across all documentation.
- Participate in the content development lifecycle, from planning and outlining to review and publishing.
- Explore and recommend new content formats and delivery methods to enhance user experience.
- Potentially contribute to the creation of video scripts, presentations, and other multimedia content.
- Manage and organize content repositories and documentation platforms.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing or a related role.
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Experience working with documentation tools and platforms (e.g., Confluence, SharePoint, Markdown, static site generators).
- Familiarity with style guides (e.g., Microsoft Manual of Style, Google Developer Documentation Style Guide).
- Strong research and information gathering skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience documenting software products, APIs, or hardware.
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS).
- Experience creating visuals (e.g., screenshots, diagrams) using relevant tools.
- Knowledge of SEO principles and their application to technical content.
- Experience with localization and internationalization of content.
- Understanding of information architecture and user experience principles.
- Experience with video creation or scriptwriting.
Terms:
100% remote environment with flexible working hours. Your schedule should still be reasonably predictable and responsiveness in communications is a must. You should be able to provide at least 3 hours overlap with the EST time zone.
A stable internet connection and videoconferencing capability is required (with camera on).
