ImageFIRST is looking for their next Technical Writer, which will be based in King of Prussia, PA.
The Technical Writer will design training and documentation for existing and new initiatives and programs within ImageFIRST. This role will be instrumental in the success and adoption of projects by ensuring comprehension, alignment, and consistency. The associate will investigate processes at different phases of development, interview users, and deliver documentation that will be used for training, and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Determine the needed documentation for a specific project or initiative.
- Interview users and stakeholders to understand the best delivery method, and desired outcomes.
- Gather information from subject-matter experts and develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation
- Attend project updates, user-acceptance-testing, and other meetings to understand the system of interest.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent voice across all documentation
- Position ImageFIRST at the forefront of documentation by remaining up-to-date in industry best- practices, and new methods.
- Communicate in a clear and concise manner regardless of the delivery method.
Qualifications
- Customer/User driven mindset.
- BA/BS in a related field, (MIS, IT, Computer Science, Education, Science, Communications)
- Proven experience documenting complex processes and systems.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and document complex processes and problems.
- Fluency in several documentation techniques, user manuals, process maps, demonstration videos, sequence diagrams, BPMN, SysML, UML, MBSE.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- 5+ years’ experience in the training, documentation, or education fields.
- Experience collaborating with technical and business teams, using documentation to bridge the gap.
- Ability to adapt communication and delivery for different audiences (developers, users, trainers, leadership)
