Job description

Remote - U.S. & Canada Only | Full-Time

Compensation:

  • $75,000 - $95,000 USD (U.S.-based candidates)
  • $80,000 - $100,000 CAD (Canada-based candidates)

We're Not Looking for a Content Calendar Manager. We're Looking for a Content Strategist Who Can Build the Engine.

Level Agency is hiring a Senior Content Strategist to build and run the content system that makes Level impossible to ignore.

This is not a "write the blog, post the recap, update the newsletter" role. This is for someone who can turn agency expertise into sharp market positioning, credible thought leadership, useful sales enablement, and repeatable content systems that actually support growth.

You'll own the strategy behind how Level shows up in the market: what we say, why it matters, where it goes, how it supports pipeline, and how we use AI to produce smarter, faster, better work without lowering the bar.

You'll work across owned channels, web content, case studies, sales enablement, podcast and event content, and internal subject matter experts. You'll be expected to bring strong editorial judgment, operational discipline, and real AI fluency — not theory, not dabbling, not "I use ChatGPT sometimes."

Success in this role means Level has a point of view worth following, the sales team always has relevant proof points to share, and content production runs like a system — not a series of last-minute sprints.

This role reports to the SVP of Marketing and Sales Enablement.

This Isn't for Everyone.

We're building something rare: a place where growth, truth, and high performance go hand-in-hand.

You'll thrive here if:

  • You're a strong writer with sharp editorial instincts and a high bar for quality. You can turn complex marketing, performance, and business ideas into clear, compelling content.
  • You think in systems — calendars, workflows, briefs, approval paths, repurposing plans, and distribution logic.
  • You know content is only valuable when it helps build trust, move pipeline, sharpen positioning, or create demand.
  • You're genuinely fluent with AI tools and excited to build workflows other people can use.
  • You can partner with sales, strategy, account teams, executives, clients, and subject matter experts without losing momentum.
  • You're comfortable owning ambiguity, asking better questions, and pushing work from idea to published asset.

And you'll struggle here if:

  • You want to be handed fully formed assignments instead of shaping the strategy.
  • You treat AI as a shortcut instead of a system to improve speed, quality, and leverage.
  • You need perfect inputs before you can start building.
  • You're focused only on writing, not on distribution, sales usefulness, or business impact.
  • You struggle to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and deadlines at once.
  • You protect the draft more than the outcome.

About Level

We're an AI-powered performance marketing agency — built for precision, designed to scale, and powered by a scientific mindset. At Level, we blend strategy, media, creative, and machine intelligence to deliver outcomes that matter. Every time. At scale.

We've been named one of Pittsburgh's Best Places to Work and an Inc. 500 Fastest-Growing Company. Our clients span B2B, education, healthcare, financial services, ecommerce, and more.

Your Role (and Impact)

As a Senior Content Strategist, you'll own the strategy, systems, and execution behind Level's content engine. You'll define what gets made, why it matters, how it supports go-to-market priorities, and how it gets produced at a high standard.

You'll sit at the intersection of brand positioning, performance marketing expertise, sales enablement, AI-enabled workflows, and editorial execution.

  • Own Editorial Strategy: Lead Level's content strategy across owned channels, including the website, blog, podcast, newsletter, social, and sales enablement
  • Build the Content Calendar: Develop and maintain a 90-day content calendar tied to go-to-market priorities, active verticals, events, conferences, and sales needs
  • Turn Expertise into Thought Leadership: Translate Level's internal expertise into differentiated content that practitioners, buyers, and clients find credible and worth sharing
  • Create Scalable Content Systems: Build repeatable workflows, templates, briefs, review loops, and production systems that make content creation more efficient and consistent
  • Lead AI-Integrated Content Workflows: Use AI tools for research, drafting, repurposing, summarization, content scoring, search optimization, and distribution planning — while maintaining human judgment and editorial quality
  • Own Web Content Strategy: Guide content for vertical pages, service pages, campaign landing pages, and other key website assets in partnership with design, SEO, and AI search teams
  • Optimize for Search and AI Discovery: Structure content to perform across traditional organic search and AI-driven discovery surfaces like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini
  • Lead Case Study Strategy: Own the pipeline, standards, production, and publishing cadence for case studies, including stories built in Level's CAISR format: Challenge, Analysis, Insight, Strategy, Result
  • Support Sales Enablement: Partner with sales and marketing leaders to create one-pagers, vertical-specific decks, objection-handling content, competitive positioning, and other assets that help move opportunities forward
  • Coordinate Stakeholders: Work with account leads, strategists, subject matter experts, clients, freelancers, contractors, and internal teams to get accurate, approved, on-brand content published
  • Repurpose with Purpose: Turn podcasts, events, case studies, internal expertise, and campaign learnings into useful content across multiple formats and channels
  • Keep Quality High: Protect Level's voice, standards, accuracy, and credibility across everything we publish
  • Contribute Beyond the Core: Depending on your background, you may also support podcast operations, agency award submissions, event content strategy, conference recaps, or PR-related content
  • Occasional travel may be requested for company events and industry conferences.

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years of content experience. You've built content in professional environments and have at least 2 years in a strategy, senior individual contributor, or team lead capacity
  • Strong writing and editorial judgment. You can turn complex ideas, performance data, strategy, and stakeholder input into clear, compelling narratives
  • Content strategy experience. You've owned content plans, editorial direction, calendars, channel strategy, and production priorities — not just individual assignments
  • Experience building content systems. You know how to create repeatable workflows, templates, approval processes, and production pipelines that help teams scale
  • Hands-on AI content experience. You've used AI tools in real workflows for research, drafting, repurposing, summarization, content scoring, search optimization, or workflow design
  • Project management strength. You can manage multiple concurrent workstreams, set deadlines, keep stakeholders moving, and follow through without being chased
  • Stakeholder management skills. You're comfortable interviewing and coordinating with executives, internal experts, account leads, sales teams, clients, freelancers, and contractors
  • Long-form content experience. You've produced assets such as case studies, research reports, white papers, editorial articles, thought leadership, or sales enablement content
  • Comfort with interviews. You can conduct qualitative interviews with internal and external stakeholders and turn messy input into useful content
  • High quality bar. You catch gaps, inconsistencies, unclear claims, weak structure, and off-brand language before content goes live
  • Self-directed work habits. You're organized, proactive, and comfortable using project management tools to keep work visible and moving
  • WordPress familiarity. You have experience publishing or editing web content in WordPress and basic comfort with HTML/CSS for formatting and on-page edits

Strong Preferences

  • B2B, agency, or professional services experience. You understand how expert-led businesses build credibility and move considered buyers through content
  • Performance marketing exposure. You understand how content supports demand generation, pipeline, proof, and sales conversations
  • Sales enablement experience. You've created assets that sales teams actually use, including one-pagers, pitch materials, objection-handling content, or vertical-specific content
  • Case study experience. You know how to identify strong stories, pull useful details from stakeholders, and shape proof into a compelling business narrative
  • Podcast or multimedia workflow experience. You've helped manage podcast production, content repurposing, or multimedia editorial systems
  • Agency award experience. You've researched award opportunities, written submissions, managed deadlines, or supported PR and credibility-building efforts
  • HubSpot or similar CMS/marketing automation experience
  • Experience optimizing content for AI-driven discovery platforms like AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini

AI Expectations

At Level, AI is a skillset — not a shortcut. In this role, AI fluency is not optional. You'll be expected to work at the frontier of AI-enabled content strategy, not just keep pace with it.

You'll be expected to:

  • Use tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Midjourney, and other AI platforms to improve how you research, create, edit, repurpose, and distribute content
  • Build and document AI-assisted content workflows that other team members can follow, adapt, and improve
  • Create and maintain prompt libraries, content brief templates, editorial review loops, humanization checkpoints, and production frameworks
  • Experiment with AI tools across writing, research, image generation, summarization, content scoring, search optimization, and distribution
  • Stay current on how AI platforms surface, cite, summarize, and recommend content — and ensure Level's content strategy accounts for those channels
  • Evaluate new tools with a practitioner's eye, not a vendor's pitch
  • Share your prompts, process improvements, use cases, and learnings with the team
  • Approach AI with an iterative mindset. The first workflow is rarely the best one
  • AI is not a shortcut. It is infrastructure. In this role, you'll help build and maintain that infrastructure while protecting the judgment, taste, accuracy, and accountability that great content requires
