Job description

The Technical Writer will develop, author, and manage customer literature content—including owner’s manuals—by researching technical product information, collaborating with engineering subject matter experts, and ensuring all content meets established style, safety, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, author, and proofread customer literature, including owner’s manuals.
  • Author and manage customer literature content in a content management system.
  • Research content using technical product information, fact sheets, and communication with engineering subject matter experts.
  • Ensure customer literature accurately incorporates feedback from engineering, marketing, and customer literature team members.
  • Work with safety, legal, and regulatory coordinators to identify required safety, legal, and regulatory text.
  • Collaborate with proofers and editors to ensure text meets global writing style guidelines.
  • Perform on-vehicle, bench, and virtual validations to verify correct vehicle content and review findings with engineering and customer literature teams.
  • Maintain business records and documentation for changes and updates to customer literature text per record retention policy.
  • Complete assigned work according to established production schedules and report unresolved content-related concerns.
  • Attend meetings as required and observe all established team processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, English, Journalism, or Communications required.
  • 0–2 years of experience in technical writing or a related field.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines concurrently.
  • Ability to create clear, accurate, and user-focused content that is fact-checked and styled correctly.
  • Strong organizational skills; must maintain research materials and documentation accessible to the team.
  • Process-driven and detail-oriented with the ability to thrive in a structured environment with defined workflows and quality expectations.
  • Collaborative and communicative; works well across teams and proactively incorporates feedback from various stakeholders.
  • Adaptable with a continuous improvement mindset; comfortable navigating changing priorities.
