Job description
At Springer Nature Digital, we're looking for an experienced senior content designer to work across our digital products, platforms and services. With a portfolio of over 3,000 peer-reviewed journals and books, including brands such as Nature, Springer, Palgrave Macmillan and BMC, we aim to make scholarly articles more accessible and publishing processes clearer for researchers worldwide.
The role
This role is part of the UX Content Design team within Springer Nature Digital (SND) and involves collaborating with colleagues across the business to support content development across products, websites, and services. As a senior content designer, you'll use data and research findings to inform your work, advise on improvements, write UX copy, and contribute to the overall user experience.
Main Responsibilities
- Create clear and engaging UX copy, product emails and guidance to support products and services
- Contribute to the development of content patterns, style and tone of voice
- Guide the creation of content inventories and audits
- Set up efficient content creation and review processes
- Communicate how content contributes to success and define success measures
- Run content creation workshops with colleagues
- Apply a structured approach to content and guide information architecture development
- Contribute to projects where content design/strategy knowledge is needed
What You Will Be Doing
Within 3 months
- Understand how content strategy and design contribute to our outcomes
- Get to know your content design colleagues and the wider UX team
- Familiarize yourself with existing research and digital writing guidelines
- Collaborate with designers to solve content-related UX challenges
Within 6 months
- Audit and improve content within user journeys
- Develop relationships with content providers in other departments
- Participate in user research activities
- Analyze research outputs to support changes and measure success
- Understand challenges and opportunities for content design
6 months+
- Influence how content is created across customer journeys
- Deliver changes to content patterns and style guide
- Contribute to product launches with significant content elements
- Contribute to strategic initiatives for content across departments
- Contribute knowledge to content tooling or CMS projects
- Champion the importance of content design in digital service delivery
